Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time as a folk musician, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff wrote the track to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized its potential the moment he heard it for the first time.
