Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Deutschedorf from Roswell in New Mexico, fell in Love with Colorado. The place he settled was Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his new home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, said: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado in the same way as John Denver." Denver was the Hall of Fame's first to be inducted into the hall. Today he personifies the state for all people. In my travels, I've met people from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell people you're from Colorado, the first words they say are"Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time as a folk musician, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff wrote the track to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized its potential the moment he heard it for the first time. Following the performance on stage in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver released the song a couple of days afterward.
