John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs he composed, the majority of them situated in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. A few took the road through Colorado after hearing Denver's popular anthems to his adopted state. I can't think of any other performer who embodies Colorado like John Denver said G. Brown director of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver is the Hall of Fame's first inductee, was honored by the honor in 2011. Today, he is the international face of Colorado. In my journeys, you meet someone from the other end of the planet, one of New Zealand and you say 'I'm originally from Colorado and the first thing they say is Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief time in small folk groups. Danoff created the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver saw an early rendition it was clear that the track could become the next hit single. The song was performed at Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver released the song a couple of days afterward.
