Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress who is best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio. She was kicked out of school when her parents separated to go in Los Angeles to live with her mother. As she struggled financially, she was able to land her first acting gig as the title character in the video on-demand series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. Her portrayal as Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV movie Murder in Greenwich in 2002, earned her nominations for a Young Artist Award. In 2004, Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost in which she was the main actor for the first two seasons. She was also awarded an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared by the entire cast. Grace decided to concentrate on film after playing opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. She starred as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 and Taken (2008) opposite Liam Neeson. In 2008, she reprised the role Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). In addition, she played Alice as Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is an updated interpretation that the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played the role of Shannon in two episodes of Lost including the series finale. The year was 2013, and she appeared in the sixth series of Californication. She plays Faith who is both an avid stargazer as well as a groupie. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She is a member of the Gyllenhaal Family she's the daughter and older sister of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was a teenager when she appeared in small parts in a few films directed by her father. She also worked with her brother on the 2001 famous movie Donnie Darko. Later, she was as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim in both of her roles as the main character in Secretary (2002) as well as in Sherrybaby (2006), an erotic romance drama drama and Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated by her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. In the wake of several successful commercial films like World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child received her a nomination for an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Then she was able to star in comedies along with dramas, such as Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Will Not Back Down (12). She also appeared as the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down the action-packed thriller released in 2013, a musician as Frank (2014), a musician Frank (2014), and her role as the main character for the lead role in The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama that was released in the year of 2018. Gyllenhaal composed and directed her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The thriller that dealt with psychological issues was awarded the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
